Glee fandom in the early 10s was magical because it was popular and had active subfandoms and juggernaut-level ships among all 3 of the shipping categories — slash, femslash and het — as well as a ton of non-shipping-focused fans, and every single one of those corners was full of the most insane, gas-leak discourse and drama. We had shipping morality fights before that became a thing in every fandom, we had people overly fixated on the actor’s’ personal lives and harassing their irl romantic partners, we had TJLC-level conspiracy theories. The works. It was the dark origin story for so many longtime fandom villains on this site like birdlawyer. It’s so much fun to reminisce about it with someone who was in a different corner of the fandom you were in (like I do with @quinnmorgendorffer who was primarily in the M/M corner while I was in the F/F one) and you can compare notes and learn about new levels of fandom insanity that you could never have imagined, and share your own war stories if you have ‘em. my mom loves to lie and like she always swears she was NEVER homophobic or anything to me as a child “i even have a gay work friend” but a really funny memory resurfaced recently where i asked if i could use birthday money i had to buy a rainbow flag when i was like ??? 7?? because i LOVED rainbows. and she said no that means something Evil and god will hate you . so what did i do. but ask my grandmom for a rainbow sweater for christmas and proceed to only wear that sweater for three years when it got cold because i didnt like the idea that god hated colors and i wanted to challenge him

It’s important to me that everyone understands that if you’ve got an autistic friend who periodically sends you pictures/videos/whatever of your Thing, because they know you’re into it… They love you.
Now don’t get me wrong, It may not necessarily be romantic love, they might not want to run off to a little farm in Montana where you’ll be married forever and raise little sheeps…
But they definitely love you. And they’re so happy when they spot a post about X and go “ooh, my friend likes X! I’ll send it to them!”.
Because they love you and want you to be happy.
